Northampton Gateway Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI)
Working for a consortium of developers, we initially helped produce a development brief and masterplan for the strategic development area identified in the Core Strategy for 3,500 houses. Subsequent work supported an outline planning application with a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan, and input to an Environmental Statement. Following a resolution to grant consent in December 2013, we helped negotiate the S106 Agreement, discharge conditions, and support reserved matters applications.
We have subsequently worked on various parcels of land, the key one being the land south of Grange Road where we were retained to design in detail the phased primary infrastructure – highways, drainage, and earthworks – including the Death Star roundabout on Grange Road, a roundabout on Beveridge Lane, and the spine road that connects the two. Serviced plots in Phase 1, north of the River Sence, began to be sold with a first purchase by Redrow in June 2020. Serviced plots in subsequent phases south of the River Sence have since been sold, an Aldi and primary school have been built.
